Objective
The Fund seeks to provide high current income exempt from federal and Virginia personal income taxes consistent with the preservation of capital by investing primarily in investment-grade municipal bonds. The Fund is managed to maintain an average maturity of between 5 and 10 years with no limit on the maturities of individual securities.
Suitability
The Fund may be appropriate for Virginia residents who want to limit risk by investing in investment-grade municipal securities with an intermediate average maturity. Income from the Fund may be subject to the Alternative Minimum Tax.
Investment Risks
This Fund has some share-price volatility and, correspondingly, has more risk tied to it than more conservative investments.
Investing in regional funds may involve additional risk since investments are concentrated in one geographic area. Bond Funds will tend to experience smaller fluctuations in value than stock funds. However, investors in any bond fund should anticipate fluctuations in price, especially for longer-term issues and in environments of rising interest rates.
