Objective
The Fund seeks to provide a high level of current income consistent with the preservation of capital by investing primarily in obligations issued or guaranteed (as to the timely payment of principal and interest) by the U.S. Government or its instrumentalities and agencies.
Suitability
The Fund is suitable for investors seeking potentially higher yields relative to shorter-term mortgage-backed securities funds, and less share-price volatility than longer-term bond funds. Additionally, the Fund may be attractive for investors seeking the high credit quality afforded by government securities.
Investment Risks
This Fund has lower share-price volatility and, correspondingly, has lower risk tied to it than more aggressive investments.
U.S. Government Guarantees apply only to the underlying securities of the Funds portfolio and not the funds shares. Bond Funds will tend to experience smaller fluctuations in value than stock funds. However, investors in any bond fund should anticipate fluctuations in price, especially for longer-term issues and in environments of rising interest rates.
